Nomad Backcountry Adventures is committed to providing outstanding, creative adventure trips. If you’ve got wanderlust, we’ve got the answer! We welcome most ages and skill levels. It’s simple- You come to us with a group of five or more. Then we design the trip AND provide the gear AND guide you on your adventure. Contact us with your particular interests and we will custom-build the trip of your dreams! Upon receipt of your request, we will contact you promptly by e-mail with a proposal package.

Nomad currently offers camping, hiking, backpacking, and rafting single or multi-day trips. Curricular areas include: outdoor skills such as campfire cooking and orienteering, yoga, writing, first aid & CPR, teambuilding activities, and environmental education. Please inquire if you have an interest not mentioned here

*New Trip* Two Talladega Nights: Explore the Wilderness of Mt. Cheaha, highest point in Alabama. A three-day trip that lets you truly experience the Talladega National Forest- its rugged trails, breathtaking scenic bluffs, and rewarding waterfalls.


  Mileage: approximately 17 miles
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging.
Location: 1 hour drive from Birmingham, AL. 2 hours from Atlanta, GA.

North Carolina Campout: A three-day hiking trip in North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest in which campers return to a base camp each night.

  Mileage: Length of hikes trip duration can be coordinated individually.
Difficulty rating: Moderately Challenging.
Location: 1 ½ hour drive from Greenville, SC. 5 hour drive from Atlanta, GA.

Blue Ridge Mountains Backpack: A four-day backpacking trip through North Carolina’s pristine Blue Ridge Mountains. The hiking is moderately challenging and covers diverse terrain. This trip may include a visit to a natural rock water slide, the highest peak east of the Mississippi, and the Cradle of Forestry’s Songcatcher Series.

  Mileage: Length of hikes and trip duration can be coordinated individually.
Difficulty rating: Moderately Challenging.
Location: 1 ½ hour drive from Greenville, SC. 5 hours from Atlanta, GA.

Fiery Gizzard Backpack: A three-day backpacking trip along the edge of the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee. The Fiery Gizzard trail offers spectacular scenery and great hiking with both rugged and gentle terrain, picturesque waterfalls, and natural swimming holes.

  Mileage: Length of hikes trip duration can be coordinated individually.
Location: 1 hour drive from Scottsboro, AL. 2 hours from Atlanta, GA.

Highlands-Chattooga Adventure: A five day exploration of Appalachian Mountain Country in North Carolina and Georgia. Essential outdoor skills, mountain summits of over 4,000 feet, and 2 days of paddling the thrilling class III & IV whitewater, and camping on the banks of the Chattooga River.

  Mileage: approximately 5-6 miles of hiking.
Difficulty rating: Moderately Challenging
Location: 2 hour drive from Atlanta, GA.

California Adventure: Backpack California’s Santa Cruz mountains and experience ancient redwood forests, cascading waterfalls, and the Pacific Ocean. Then spend a day exploring the hustle and bustle of San Francisco city life. A trip not to miss!

Location: 1 hour drive from San Jose, CA.
