About Nomad
Nomad Backcountry Adventures, founded by Meg Letson and Rachel Pomerantz in 2004 to introduce people to the rewards of sharing challenging outdoor adventures, offers participants the opportunity to “feed their wanderlust.” Drawing on years of experience in the outdoor, environmental, and adventure education fields, Meg and Rachel combine their expertise and passion for learning through nature to bring you trips unique in creativity, adaptability, and focus on the small details. By honoring the simple things: beautiful surroundings, good friends, delicious food, and challenges of the trail, our trips invite trekkers to take part in journeys of personal development and growth. Exploratory and free-spirited in nature, each trip is carefully designed to foster stewardship, empowerment, community, and fun. Step out of your comfort zone…stretch your muscles and imagination.
Why Choose Nomad Backcountry Adventures
Our trips are unique in character and scope. Curriculum is determined directly by trekkers’ interest and input through pre-trip questionnaires and ongoing assessment and dialogue during the trip. Activities such as technical outdoor skill building like orienteering, yoga, international backcountry cooking, astronomy, team-building challenges, and cultural outings enhance days of hiking, whitewater rafting, and camping.
Our guides are unparalleled in their inspiration for and dedication to facilitating fun, rewarding, safe, and free-spirited journeys. Nomad founders are also its guides- we are involved in every inch of the journey. Because Nomad is so personal, each experience is defined by its participants.
We strive to be inclusive by offering trips that are both financially and technically accessible. We provide most necessary outdoor gear, including tent, backpack, sleeping bag and pad. We plan itineraries for a variety of skill levels. Participants bring boots enthusiasm, and a sense of adventure!
Through small group sizes, scrupulous attention to daily details, and preventative safety measures, all Nomad participants are supported in a safe and accepting environment.
